ukspend started life as the GLA Spend Explorer, a viewer for one authority's spending. It's now a platform covering London's councils: 33 authorities, £118.4bn across more than 16.6 million transactions, with the latest running to March 2026.
Everything comes from the councils' own published payment data, so you're looking at what they actually released. Search by borough, vendor, category and year. Every council gets its own page and its own explorer, and the homepage pulls out the largest national vendors, the biggest year-on-year rises and falls, and anomalous spikes worth a second look.
Now, the honest bit. The GLA's own data isn't loaded yet, which is a bit daft given where we started, but there you go. Benchmarks and a data-coverage page show exactly what's loaded and what isn't, so you never have to guess. It's free, there's no sign-up, it's published under the Open Government Licence, and there's a public JSON API if you want to build on it.
